This thing we are building is simply a joyful paradox. Amidst closures, restrictions, fear and retraction, we are growing a high school in Green Bay Wisconsin! Opening our doors next August 2021, we are excited to be offering a Catholic classical education starting with a freshman class and building grades each successive year.
The model chosen for this school is not only Catholic and classical, but also part of the Chesterton Schools Network which is growing tremendously across the nation. This is no fad ladies and gentleman, a classical approach to learning is the next wave of regeneration in the Church. It is the antidote to the poisons of modernism, relativism and hopelessness. It is counter cultural.
At Chesterton Academy we are building a culture of life forming saints and scholars, because anything less is unacceptable. We do not suffer from want of a great tradition, we have the Church and all of Western Civilization. And with the wit and wisdom of G. K. Chesterton at the helm we can't go wrong. Far from being exclusive and elitist, we welcome all to come to know Truth (Jesus), Goodness (Virtues) Beauty (Creation) from the thousands of years of revelation and creation.
Like our namesake, a Chesterton student really does know how to think critically because they learn first principles; why God made man, why He made them male and female and where Truth is found. This Catholic anthropology is liberating and joy-filled, truly something we need to cultivate and disperse to a culture that is evermore angry, hostile, hopeless, lost and selfish.
After visiting Chesterton Academy of Milwaukee this past week I was delightfully confirmed in that vision of a joyous and engaged Catholic student, I wish you could see it in action, it is something very special to behold. In my next blog I will share all of my observations and excitements about that visit and what we plan to do with it next year!
