So What Do You Care About?

Updated: Dec 17, 2020

You have heard: "Remember, where your treasure is, there your heart will be also". (Matthew 6:21) When you see this beautiful picture of a father and a mother loving their daughter there is no doubt they know this scripture well. For those blest with children you know this too.

Look now, please, into that man's eyes. Look and say to yourself 'he will fail to raise that daughter, he will not be a strong loving father'. Poppycock, balderdash an absurdity! I agree, he looks like a steady and deep man, one who doesn't fall victim to trends, fads and social media scare tactics. If he is this steady man, it must be because he has built his house upon stone and not sand. As Christians we know that the only stone to build on is the rock of Jesus Christ. Not because it is an easy home to occupy, but really the only home that lasts.

The teachers and staff of Chesterton Academy of St. John Paul II Classical School know this to their core. Whether God has blest them with children or sent others on mission without, they are on mission to bring His sheep into the fold to be fully equipped and bear the full armor of God.

All of our students start their day receiving Christ, King of the world in the Eucharistic form of bread. Could any parent really hope for anything more? Does any good parent not want the absolute best for their children always? Does receiving the Lord of the Universe daily sound like anything but the best? Our faith teaches us it is 'the source and summit of the Christian life'. Therefore, we take that mandate and joyfully embrace it not because we are holy rollers or snobs, but because we need Him and He wants us to need Him. This is all too elementary and yet we lose our way constantly.

At Chesterton Academy of St. John Paul II Classical School we also employ a chaplain who oversees retreats, pilgrimages, Masses, confessions and other opportunities to develop the spiritual life of our students. We don't have just a religion "class" we have the Faith integrated in all our subjects along with a theology class. In this manner, students can see the cohesive whole, not a fragmentation. We believe in teaching the the whole Truth, all the time, not some truth some of the time. Rest assured your children won't leave our school wondering if God is there and that He loves them to the point of death. This will be written on their hearts as trustingly as ever. And this is the beautiful and integral piece to our school. Because of the nature of our current world and its hostilities to the Faith, we journey with and strengthen our students to engage with the world joyfully so as to be salt and light for a world that desperately needs it.
